Objects in Nature

In the heart of northern Vietnam lies the town of Sapa, where misty mountains and terraced fields create a breathtaking backdrop. During our visit, we chanced upon a charming spot—Demong Homestay

The homestay is lovingly managed by Anh and Yen, a warm and welcoming couple whose journey to Sapa is as inspiring as the landscapes around them. Originally from Hanoi, Anh and Yen left behind the city’s fast-paced lifestyle to embrace a slower, more intentional way of living. Life in Sapa flows at a gentler pace—people are less hurried, and there’s a comforting rhythm to each day that city dwellers might find unfamiliar yet deeply refreshing. It’s this tranquil lifestyle that drew Anh and Yen to this beautiful corner of Vietnam, echoing the philosophy behind Objects of Comfort: creating spaces that soothe and connect us to a more grounded way of living.

Anh, who previously worked in e-commerce, decided to take a break after a challenging business experience. Seeking solace, he booked a week-long stay at a homestay in Sapa and left feeling rejuvenated. This transformative experience inspired him to offer others the same sense of peace, leading to the creation of Demong Homestay. Yen, his creative half, designed their space, weaving together traditional Vietnamese aesthetics that honour the region’s ethnic minority heritage and the modern European farmhouse style she loves. The result is a blend of elegance and authenticity—a retreat that feels personal yet connected to the local culture.

Beyond a place to stay, Demong Homestay also features a cozy café, where the menu reflects the same thoughtful blend of old and new. Guests can savour local specialties like Vietnamese salt coffee or enjoy a matcha latte in the café’s warm ambiance. Popular among both locals and tourists, the space buzzes with activity by day, but Anh and Yen ensure that evenings remain peaceful by closing the café early, preserving the restful experience of their guests.

Though busier than ever, Anh and Yen find fulfilment in the community they’ve created and are already exploring opportunities to expand Demong Homestay to other regions across Vietnam. Their journey is a reminder of the beauty in slowing down and creating meaningful connections—values that resonate with us at Objects of Comfort, where we strive to bring elements of calm and care into everyday living.
