For those who find beauty in the well-loved and timeworn, @objects.re is sure to be a familiar name. Curated by local tastemaker @najigirl, the home goods store is a trove of vintage and second-hand pieces, each carrying a quiet history. Stepping into her two-storey home was a feast for the senses—light filtering through timeworn windows, the original flooring, doors, and gates left beautifully intact. With its surfaces bearing traces of the past, her home invites one to imagine the lives lived within its walls.
Naj’s journey into collecting began when she moved to the States for her studies. With a student’s budget, furnishing a home meant scouring marketplaces for pieces that were both beautiful and accessible. It was there that she discovered the art of thrifting—unearthing well-crafted objects at a fraction of their original price. Upon returning to Singapore, she turned to Facebook Marketplace and Carousell, uncovering hidden treasures along the way. What started as a personal pursuit soon evolved into @objects.re, an Instagram account to share and sell her finds. Ironically, what was old became something new—and it quickly took off.
Beyond the occasional pop-ups at @aeae_furniture and @boutiquefairssg, the heart of @objects.re lies online, where pieces are swiftly claimed upon release—some even sparking bidding wars. When asked about her curation process, Naj shares that there’s no ascribed formula, just intuition. “It’s a feeling,” she says—and that’s where the magic happens. She gravitates toward objects that are both functional and beautiful, designed to stand the test of time—like the thrifted Braun record player by Dieter Rams, a timeless icon from the 1960s.
